THE LEGEND OF HALAND THE SEVEN CHARMS

BEYOND THE WARNING SIGNS

Justin wants his own way.
Waleed wants to find where he belongs.

Neither expects to find himself in a forbidden forest, depending on a menacing monster to get home.

AN UNLIKELY COMPANY

Who would
you trust?

In Ferdous, magic comes with conditions.
Trusting one another may be harder still.

Justin in a brown coat and waistcoat, watching the forest with an assured expression

Justin

He knows what he wants.

Quick-thinking and resourceful, Justin is used to putting himself first. When trouble comes, he looks for an advantage. His cleverness may find a way out. Whether that way makes room for anyone else is another matter.

Waleed in a pale thob and brown shawl, with Farra the mouse on his shoulder

Waleed

Finding his voice is its own adventure.

Shy and far from his family’s homeland, Waleed often feels out of place. Among unfamiliar customs and stronger personalities, speaking up can be difficult. Being overlooked, however, is not the same as having nothing to offer. What will he do when someone else needs him to speak?

Hal in werewolf form, snarling beneath a gray mane in the enchanted forest

Hal

Some burdens have teeth.

Bound to people he cannot abandon, Hal carries responsibilities he cannot escape. Driven by purposes he keeps to himself, his anguish surfaces as anger—a frightening associate whose help may come at a price.

THE WAY HOME IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

means putting someone else at risk?
